Story Two:
Isaac Newton (1642–1727)

Trinity college

This stop takes place at Trinity college and explores the life of Isaac Newton who was a student and professor at the university. Many people know the story that he was sitting underneath an apple tree when an apple fell on his head and he had an amazing idea about how gravity worked.

He made a big contribution to another branch of science called optics, studying prisms and how they worked. He worked out that light looks white but is made up from lots of different colours. Modern telescopes such as the Hubble space telescope use the same idea!

Children have the opportunity to see and try on and old fashioned wig, see a prism and can colour in the ‘colour wheel’ in the activity sheets trying to remember the seven colours of the rainbow in the correct order.
